We are a group of scholars in Georgia engaged in pedagogical and research collaborations focused on the history of the Atlantic World, Latin America, and the Caribbean. In addition to building an intellectual community, we are strengthening the institutional ties among university campuses across the state. Participating faculty are from nine universities (Emory University, Georgia Institute of Technology, Georgia Southern University, Georgia State University, Morehouse College, Spelman College, University of North Georgia, University of Georgia, and the University of West Georgia) and we aim to support faculty and student development.
In 2018 we received funding and institutional support as an FCHI Interdisciplinary Research Seminar (CHIIRS) at the Fox Center for Humanistic Inquiry at Emory University. GALACSI is co-sponsored by the Wilson Center for Humanities and Arts at the University of Georgia and the Humanities Research Center at Georgia State University.
